Queues
A queue buffers work between producers and consumers.
#systems
A queue stores work so producers and consumers do not need to run at exactly the same speed.
Queues are useful because they decouple parts of a system. But they can also hide overload. If producers keep adding work faster than consumers can process it, the queue grows.
That is why queues often need limits, monitoring, and some form of backpressure or load shedding.
